'Beauty and the Beast' returns to Shoultes Elementary

March 20, 2012 · 4:28 PM

MARYSVILLE — For the fourth year in a row, Shoultes Elementary students will be able to show off their acting and singing chops to schoolmates, parents and community members alike, as "Beauty and the Beast" returns to the school's stage on Thursday, March 22, and Friday, March 23.

Shoultes' student performers have been rehearsing Kathryn Schultz Miller's elementary school adaptation of the play since January, and will be accompanied by the Shoultes School Choir.

"We did this play four years ago," said Nancy Hammer, Shoultes' librarian and the director of its school plays for the past four years. "It was our first production, and I can't believe that the time has gone by so fast. We've spent a lot of time and effort in improving the costumes for the play."

The day performance of the play will start at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, and the evening performing of the play will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 23. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Shoultes Elementary is located at 13525 51st Ave. NE in Marysville.
