EVERETT — The third annual Voices of Youth teen film festival will be held at the Everett PUD auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 18, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The event will showcase seven short films on topics of social change and will be hosted by state representatives Mike Hope (R-44) and Marko Liias (D-21). Since 1993 Snohomish County has held an annual forum for youth to address policy makers, to assist the community in best meeting the needs of young people. For the third year the Snohomish County Health and Safety Network will be presenting this forum in a film festival format.
Youth from throughout Snohomish County have created short films on topics that are important to them. From U.S. 2 safety, to drug availability in their schools, to engagement and leadership within the Latino community, these young people have demonstrated courage and thoughtfulness in the preparation of the films.
The Snohomish County Health and Safety Network is a grassroots organization dedicated to reducing youth substance abuse and violence through youth and community engagement. Since 1994 The Network has worked with many community and agency partners to reduce rates of problem behaviors and save taxpayer dollars.
