MARYSVILLE — The medical marijuana dispensary within city limits, that had applied for a business license from the city, has agreed to shut down its business, according to city of Marysville Public Information Officer Doug Buell.
"We did not agree with the description of their business that they had opted to include in their license application, since it included no references to marijuana," Buell said. "Their attorneys have asked to continue discussions with the city's attorneys, because they believe they have a legal right to operate, and we're still doing research on that on our end. In the meantime, they are moving out immediately."
Buell echoed the view of city of Marysville Chief Administrative Officer Gloria Hirashima, who expressed the opinion that the business, Elevated Medical Treatment in Smokey Point, cannot legally operate within the city. Marijuana dispensaries are illegal in the state of Washington.
