MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Community Coalition's first fall meeting will take place Oct. 6 at the Ken Baxter Senior Community Center, located at 514 Delta Ave., from 8-9:15 a.m.
All community members are invited to attend and learn about several opportunities to partner with the Marysville community in ongoing work this year.
Greg Erickson, who serves as a representative of the Marysville School District on the Marysville Community Coalition, explained that the Marysville Community Coalition exists to serve as "a conduit of information for the community," addressing issues including health, safety and drug abuse prevention.
"A big target for this year is responding to gang members and their influence," Erickson said. "We're a diverse group, with representatives from the YMCA, Naval Station Everett, the city and school district of Marysville, and Camp Fire. We talk about issues that affect the community and develop plans for the coming year. We're considering coordinating with the Healthy Communities Challenge Day, and we endorse other groups' efforts."
