MARYSVILLE — On Feb. 13, Grandview Village Retirement Community crowned 95-year-old May Evenson and 81-year-old S. Don Taylor its Queen and King, respectively, for the 2009 Marysville Strawberry Festival.
Evenson worked as a teacher for more than 40 years, while Taylor was a superintendent for PUD before he retired.
“May and Don first caught each other’s eyes on Valentine’s Day of last year,” said Debra Loughrey-Johnson, executive director of Grandview Village. “For the past year, they have been inseparable.”
Evenson was crowned by Emma Bergstrom, Grandview Village’s Strawberry Festival Queen for 2008, but with the passing of 2008 King Bob Bergstrom, Taylor was crowned by Bergstrom’s daughter, Sharon Fowler.
