Marysville Parks seeks volunteers for Make a Difference Day

MARYSVILLE — Marysville Parks and Recreation invites individuals and groups in the community to bring gardening gloves and help plant 1,500 tulips, daffodils and other bulbs around Marysville.
Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Ebey Waterfront Park, located downtown at State Avenue and First Street. The bulb-planting effort is Marysville’s contribution to Make a Difference Day, an annual, nationwide day of community giving and helping others.
Green thumbs and gardening experts will be greatly welcomed, but anyone with a willingness to help make their community a more beautiful place, or an interest in gardening, has all the qualifications necessary, says Mike Robinson, Parks Maintenance Manager. Bulbs will be distributed to locations around the city including parks, public rights-of-way and gateways into Marysville. Planting instructions and patterns will be provided to each volunteer.
“For a 3-4 hour time commitment, volunteers can take pride in the fact that by next spring, they will be able to see the colorful fruits of all their hard work, and so will visitors and citizens,” Robinson says.
