MARYSVILLE — CrossFit of Marysville, located in Suite B on 1528 Third Street, will be hosting a "Throw Down for Charity" from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 7.

According to volunteer Ernest Haekel, this fundraising event will help support Child United in its efforts to send educational supplies to Third World nations, as well as to pitch in on behalf of the survivors of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

"We're expecting more than 80 athletes for the event," Haekel said. "Other organizations, like the National Guard, will be there to show their support as well."

The $35-per-person donation fee to take part also covers an event T-shirt for each participant. There will be three workouts total during the day, and prizes will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers. Registration runs from 8-9 a.m., and the workouts begin at 9:30 a.m.
