Movement Arts yoga and dance studio is celebrating its 10-year anniversary Saturday, Aug. 23 with a day of free sample classes at the studio in the Big Red Barn near Island Crossing.

Owner Kara Keating is proud to have kept the business going this long in an historical barn in the Stillaguamish Valley.

"We are so pleased to have had a positive influence on our local community over the last ten years, and I hope it will continue for many more to come," Keating said.

"The anniversary celebration will give people a chance to try out all that we have to offer. It's a great opportunity to discover the healing power of various movement arts, to meet the teachers, and get a feel for the surroundings in our Big Red Barn."

Free classes include two styles of yoga, pilates, jazz, belly dance and Tahitian dance. The classes are all intended for adults or teens no children please, except for Tahitian dance which welcomes girls age 10 and up as well as teens, moms and grandmothers.

The classes are offered on a first come/first serve basis, so no reservations are needed. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., with the first class starting at 9 a.m. with Tahitian dance, belly dance starts at 10 a.m., pilates starts at 11 a.m., followed by a break at noon.

Healthy refreshments will be served and instructors will be available to answer questions. The afternoon continues with yoga for beginners at 1 p.m., yin yoga at 2 p.m. and jazz dance at 3 p.m. There is no limit to the number of classes one may take.

Parking is limited and so carpooling with friends is suggested. For driving and parking instructions see the Web site at www.movementarts.com.

Fall class schedules and other information can be found on the Web site at www.movementarts.com or call 360-435-7193.
