MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Goodwill Job Training and Education Center, located at 9315 State Ave., will register people from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 13-15 for free classes in the eight-week session that runs from Jan. 4 through Feb. 24 of next year.

These courses are tailored toward those with significant barriers to employment, and are designed to teach them valuable job-seeking and job-retention skills, in subjects ranging from English to computers.

Classes tend to fill up quickly, and sign-ups are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, so those who are interested are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.

Classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages will be offered, including basic- to intermediate-level courses for adults who want to learn the English language, such as:

• Basic ESOL from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

• ESOL Level 1 from 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

• ESOL Level 2 from 9:30-11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

• ESOL Level 3 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Basic computer classes will also be offered, to help people with little to no computer experience become proficient at using computers, and are set to include:

• Computer basics from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

• Microsoft Word from 9:30-11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

The Marysville Goodwill's new job readiness class is designed to teach students how to write resumes and cover letters, apply for jobs on the Internet and interview successfully. It runs Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Job Training and Education Center will also open its computer lab Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30-3 p.m. so that people in the community can use Goodwill computers to write resumes, search for jobs and apply for positions online.
